Materials & Colors we offer

We supply smooth paving in the most requested materials so you can pick the performance and look you need:

  • Sandstone (sawn/honed) — warm, natural variation with a refined face.
  • Color-  —Caramel Buff, Golden Sand, Ivory Smooth, Mint Dove, Raj Green, Silver Birch, York Swirl

What Actually Is Smooth/Honed Paving?

Honed paving is cut or finished to be flat. You still get the colour and character of proper stone - or the clean look of porcelain if that's your thing - but without the lumps and bumps.

Smooth Sandstone - The Proper Stone Option

This is what most people go for when they want natural stone. It's been cut smooth but you still get all that natural variation in colour. Each slab's a bit different, which is the whole point really.

Smooth Paving Colors:

Caramel Buff - Gorgeous warm tones. Goes with pretty much anything. Looks particularly lovely in the evening when the sun hits it.

Golden Sand - Classic British garden colour. You can't go wrong with it, honestly.

Ivory Smooth - Pale and elegant. Makes small gardens look bigger. Really nice with white or cream-painted houses.

Mint Dove - Soft grey-green. Been really popular lately. Works brilliantly if you've got loads of planting.

Raj Green - This one's special. Greens, browns, golds all mixed together. Bit of a statement.

Silver Birch - Cool greys. Very Scandi. Perfect if you're after that minimalist look.

York Swirl - Beautiful mix that nods to traditional Yorkshire stone but with a modern finish. Can't go wrong.

Sizes That Matter

We keep it simple:

  • 600×600mm - The standard. Does everything you need.
  • 900×600mm - Bit more contemporary
  • 1200×600mm - Big statement slabs (mostly porcelain)

Mixed patio packs - Different sizes so you can create patterns but keep that smooth look

Thickness matters:

  • 20mm for patios and paths
  • 30mm+ if cars are going on it (check the specs though)

How much to buy?

Add about 5-8% extra for waste. Diagonal patterns need a bit more. We'll work it out properly when you get a quote - the last thing you want is to run out halfway through.

Why landscapers/Homeowners Choose Smooth Paving

Clean lines. Modern. Makes your garden look like you've actually thought about it rather than just chucked some slabs down.

It's Easy to Clean

This is the bit people don't think about until they're living with it. Smooth surfaces don't trap muck. Quick sweep, occasional jet wash, done. No scrubbing dirt out of cracks.

Makes Your House Feel Bigger

Open your bifold doors onto paving that matches your kitchen floor and suddenly everything flows. Your living room feels bigger, your garden feels more like part of the house.

Practical Stuff

Tables don't wobble. You can walk on it barefoot without stubbing your toe. Garden furniture sits flat. Little things, but they matter when you're actually using your garden.

FAQ's

Q. Is it slippery when wet?

Ans. Can be, yeah. More than textured stuff. Get honed finish rather than polished, or porcelain with an anti-slip rating if it's shaded or near water.

Q. Can I drive on it?

Ans. Only if it says you can. Most smooth slabs are patio-grade only. Check the specs or ask us - using the wrong thickness will crack.

Q. How much extra should I order?

Ans. 5-8% usually. More if you're doing fancy patterns. We'll calculate it when we quote.

Q. Does it need sealing?

Ans. Porcelain - no. Stone - yes, especially first year. We'll tell you what sealer to use.
